I know it's probably a safe assumption that most people who ask questions here don't know anything and don't do any research beforehand, but I usually do.

That exact passage actually showed up in the parser app I use, I just forgot to toggle between english and japanese grammar sources when I searched it. Every english source just mentions it linking things and hand waves the rest away for some reason.

The character saying it is a kid during the 60s, though, so I don't think it was even unreasonable to assume he might just be using some weird contraction or slur, or even referencing a song that was popular in japan 60 years ago or something. There are plenty of things a dictionary won't help you with.

Thanks either way, though, definitely a mistake on my part.
