There exist a character called Kurumi who is the OG vampire, they're color coded in black. But then zun decided lol lmao let's add another vampires but pink this time, and another one but red, wouldn't that be so ebin and unique?!?! xd
So this is the result, one of the more egregious examples of piss poor design in the entire series, on par with a ten year old making his own OC donut steel waifu.

-My head canon tells me it's because they act and think like girls, so they are. Basically that whole "Vampire self image" thing, that they do not technically age, and could change their apparent age to their liking if they felt like it, it's not uncommon for vampires in mythos to tend to have some level of shape shifting. I don't recall anywhere in canon where they've complained about "being stuck as kids/being small" or anything of that nature, so it's most likely not an issue for them, if you have evidence of them saying otherwise I'd be interested in knowing.

-Another possibility is that they age very slowly and for them a 5 years difference wouldn't be much of a gap.

-Of course there's always the cop out "magic" answer.

-Now, a contrary point to my prior statement: Some vampires will automatically age to a certain point upon being turned. (Though that age would generally be adult or teenager in fictions. One such example occurs in Kings Quest 2, the remake.)
