Hi /jp!

Currently I host a TV night with our school's Japanese club. We've been watching mostly Anime and the occasional comedy show (MST3K, for example). So far, Katanagatari and Madoka have been hits, although Denpa Onna seemed to go over well this week.

We'd like to branch out to Japanese TV shows and or live action movies of some kind, but we're not really sure of a good place to begin. Any suggestions for good JDramas that are fan-subbed, or perhaps something that's not too complex? We're all starting towards being bilingual in Japanese and English, but aren't there yet.

tl;dr: What are some Japanese Live Actions TV shows / Movies that don't suck ass?

...am i just being paranoid?

I have a part-time job that sucks balls, but pays about 300bucks every other week. My mom still gives me an allowance of 30 for food and gas. She buys everything else. I DO plan on moving out within the next 2 years (19 here) but the idea of having a /real/ job pisses me off. RL is for the birds, I dunno what's so bad about hikkikomori. They got it made, no human contact.

Part of the problem with hikikomori is that when you break a kid's brain, they can't fix it themselves. That means someone else has do to it for them, and parents usually aren't up to the challenge. These kids had might as well be Fritzl'd the way they look and act, but people's strategy is to expect them to "snap out of it."

We're pretty much left with two choices: assault them with legions of psychiatrists at small public cost, or watch them grow up and be bums at large public cost.
