Nature does not always behave as predicted (in fact often does not) and so math is of little use to us... You can make a mathematical model saying, "Ok, according to this formula, conduit architeture SHOULD be in the Virtual Gate/Polymer Brush conformation in the nuclear pore complex", but then it turns out that that's completely fucking wrong because maybe it's actually selective phase/hydrogel format instead because of the binding sites on certain molecular cargo complexes, or perhaps entropic exclusion of specific calibers of proteins, being an evolutionary selective force that changed what SHOULD have been the most logical path into something different.

I probably don't know shit about math compared to you, but you probably don't know shit about biology compared to me, and neither of our fields of study can solve each others' problems by themselves. Mathemeticians and physicists sometimes seem to think, that because they are the base root and that everything else in science is supposedly just derivative applications of what they study, that they can do/solve anything. Not true. If it was then there would be no need for other divisions of the sciences.
