I feel like that really only applies to platforms where established tools for reverse engineering and knowledge is common...

Working on Playstation game right now, I feel like I got lucky because most of my game was done in bytecode, which made it extremely helpful to just change some files' to get text to work and etc. But I am stuck currently on getting the game's text backlog, which crashes with my current modifications, and none of the bytecode points to a problem. So my worst fear is actually reading MIPS code and then trying to figure out what shit does what on a non-PC platform.
