Even disregarding the whole execution, part of the issue I have with the anime is that it seems to portray Rika's presence as the only problem for Satoko's teenage years, with her overlooking the rest of the world due to Rika.

Then in the end she gets to retreat to Hinamizawa without really learning anything aside from how keeping Rika around was a bad idea.

Meguri has shown several times that Satoko just languishing there is bad too though, so hopefully the ending won't be as empty as that.
