If you've tried the latest version, you should know that what made Marisa hard (ZMarisa) was removed. However, the next trainer you have to fight is Reimu and, you guessed it, she has ZReimu (which is not weak to electric moves and even has thunderbolt).

Try Touhoumon Emerald/Scarlet Emerald, it's a bit...intense, but the author replaced almost if not all of the dialogue and should get you some laughs now and then (some characters are also replaced like Aya with Birch and Sakuya with Steven, among others).

''World Link'' by the same Another World author is probably the biggest, it has you beating Hoenn, then Kanto, then a little bit of Johto and then a completely made up world which is pretty big and even has a light-dark-world mechanism, it's the version with the most number of puppets.
