OP again with a final note. If you play a file with proper, readable tags and it doesn't display in your media player properly, convert the tags and then ctrl+z. mp3tag will re-write the previous correct tag to the file and it will display correctly.

Sorry for self-bumping. Garbage ID3 tags always annoyed me, that's all.
