Eventually, probably fairly soon, you reach a point where you understand enough Japanese to realise that most translations suck.
This is a real difficult barrier. Im trying to read Todai for example to practise my reading but half the time the translations are poorly done and dont make sense, but I dont understand them enough myself to provide an accurate alternative

So I try to read manga and look up the English translations when I don't understand something but thats even worse because most of the time they just take the general sentiment of a sentence and translate that, instead of accurately translating it
