Is it actually feasible/wise for me to do anything but Easy Mode given that ship locking is a thing?

I don't feel confident in the diversity of high level ships I have, plus I don't have many of the harder hitters (Tone class K2, Fusou class K2, Nagato, Hotels, etc).
My equip is so-so. I have 3 AP, enough No3s, 6 Reppuu, 2 Shiden Kai 2, 1 T32/2 T14 radars, one maxed T94 AAFD and a decent amount of ASW...

My main objective is to clear for the event ships and then trying to farm for other rare/event ship drops.
