On the one hand, you are correct that Mokou doesn't need to be drawn with pants all the time: they are a representation of her nobility, but it's not like it's the only thing she's able to wear. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with how pants were brought up: someone claimed they were put in to show gender indifference, and the history of the pants was recalled to point out that gender has little to do with it. Feel free to criticize if it turns into "ALL PANTS ALL THE TIME," but don't preemptively call foul.
