I have done more than just fix the names of items that have long gone mistranslated, I have also been translating their flavor text descriptions as well. It might not be much in terms of gameplay, but there are surely many players that like the tidbits of lore and such. Aside from me doing this, another guy has been working on translating what you're talking about (the 'this is untranslated sentence' stuff).

My progress has been very slow on item descriptions though, mostly due to the release of other games (Nier) and the fact that I work nearly full-time.
