>The song is about how the vocaloid community has changed (it has, a lot of producers have gone pro).
I get the feeling that the reason they leave the scene is because they don't want the character taking away from what they think should belong all to them. All the fame, all the credit. Hachi had one job to make a positive song to celebrate the occasion. But he did a really cynical take on it, deciding to point out this evident change. It was painfully apparent he was paid to make it. Maybe Giga was also paid but you don't get that feeling from the song. It's why it was so insulting. It's like him saying "Okay, I will take the money but I don't get what I'm supposed to celebrate, singing songs in the desert."

Then all the "Holdouts" like you called them started patting him on the back for it. Reason being that someone who they looked up to validated how they already felt but it goes deeper than that. If it's a desert who is to blame for it? Were they chased out? The fans didn't love them enough? Their albums weren't selling enough? Like you said they weren't obligated to stay, they left by their own choice. Why should I pat him on the back for pointing out the desert he himself created? Why does he have to push into my face the result of his own actions? Obviously the desert must be a consequence of something but consequence of what? Apart from the producers who passed away why did the others leave? I get the suspicious feeling the song protests against that part of the community that cared more about the characters than the producers behind them. It's like a great star like him didn't want to regress into being a mere shadow producer for a virtual entity again. It's why he made it into a duet as much as possible.

If he were to sing 100% of the song in his voice and Miku wasn't in the video would you be able to distinguish it from a diss track? It's like him saying "We were called to sing for your party but I don't get what we are to celebrate, we're traversing a desert where nothing will grow for millenia, we all left because you cared more for Miku than you cared for us as people, if you still remember Hachi respond to me, I will sing for you for today then it's bye-bye-bye until it goes back to normal." It feels weird that he framed things this way. Instead of focusing on being grateful for his place of origin. He drives home how Miku is nothing without the people who used to make her songs. It's like the idea that Vocaloid fans put him where he is doesn't even cross his mind. It's why he is so full of himself in my opinion. He doesn't want to give credit, in his mind it was all about him all along and going back to Miku is to regress, something beneath him.

It's amazing how some people still resent Hachi and keep looking for hidden meanings behind the song when he clearly said what it was inspired by.
He really managed to create something people will talk about for ages to come.
