I'm that anon that annoyed some people about the twin sisters dumbassery of Higurashi last thread.

Now that I finally got to the part where Keichi meets both Shion and Mion I have a much better opinion of this plotline. The mental buildup (that definitely wasn't in the anime) from Keichi to figure out why Mion would disguise as her sister is perfect. I still think the sheer thought of twin sisters disguising as each other to date a guy is absurd; but now I truly get why Ryu did this. What I assume is the fake scene of Rena and Mion; made up by Keichi, implying how Mion is going to invent a persona to get his approval and attention really sold me on this whole thing. It went from being absurd in every level of human logic to something that Keichi just misunderstood because he is a complete dumbass, which I buy. I just think this should have been communicated much earlier to the reader, we should have gotten a monologue, probably a shorter one, with Keichi trying to rationalize the twins as soon as she got a confirmation Mion had a sister with Rika.

Also, the payoff was absolutely worth it. The music and Shion acting like a total bitch about the whole thing. It's both a hilarious, sad and tense scene; Shion went from being waifu-bait to legitimately a possible psycopath in the blink of an eye. This was never as well delivered in the anime and I can't wait to see how this continues.

Anyway, another win for the VN.
