I have to say that the rate which we're going through threads has picked up a little bit... new blood or just sidetracking into other topics of discussion mid-thread?

Long posts incoming.

By biggest question right now is how will "leveling up" reyvateils work? Will their level 1 stats/skills be completely overwritten by their level 2 stats/skills, and so on? Or will it be less far-reaching?

When can reyvateils be leveled up? If it's during the reyvateil phase, then I think that adds some strategy since vanguards have to survive a turn before their emotions become useful. I assume the emotions on the field are only important when actually playing higher-level reyvateils on the field initially, so players can switch vanguards and then play a different reyvateil card that has different requirements.

You've said vanguards can be replaced, but damage transfers over when this happens. What happens when a vanguard goes down? As I expect, will the player have the option of replacing him/her/it with either another vanguard or another reyvateil on their next turn?

Will vanguards all have about the same utility? Right now, I see no limitation on playing vanguard cards besides "I need x and y emotions to play z card on my next turn," so people are going to gravitate towards stronger or more useful vanguards.

I like how you've designed the battle phase to promote gathering high amounts of burst before releasing spells, since to use a spell requires the player to give up two or three vanguard attacks.

In hard mode, it's normal for your characters to die quickly. As suggested, spam items and only really try to hit the red beats. It's also better to focus your efforts on interrupting enemies by hitstunning them when possible, and try to buy as much time as possible for your burst meter. Song magic will be your main source of damage in hard mode. I don't know what >>7091692 was smoking unless he only played hard mode on New Game+.

Pic slightly related due to there being no good big ass attack images for AT3 in my collection. Anyone care to share?

I remember the last boss took me like an hour because I never leveled my characters and always ran from random battles.

Good thing Shurelia had some overpowered song that raised all stats.

>>am I the only one that liked the battle system in ATs or does the hate come from the fact that the games are way too easy?

Yeah, it's just too easy.

Protecting your singing waifu while she powers up her Genki Dama/SPIRIT BOMB is fun though. I like that part. It just needs a bit more polish really. AT2 wasn't as bad as AT1; I did a lot of running away in the latter.
