Atheist, born into a Christian family. I hate saying born Christian because as a newborn, you don't have the concept of religion. Before I turned atheist, I went to Church for 16 years. Stopped believing because the God I believed in wasn't correctly portrayed in the book of circular arguments.

God either does not give a fuck about his believers praying to him or is very selective about who gets to live a good life. He seems to favor those living in first and second world countries and favors the wealthier people. Everyone else not in these gets "miracles" that are occur daily for other people, like having anything resembling food on the table.

Prayers also seem to not matter at all for healing, as I have found out from deceased relatives. You may hear stories and anecdotes about the "miracles of prayer", but those few are selected out of the thousands that fail and are buried. Eat shit, confirmation bias.

I have other reasons for being atheist, but one isn't "just to be different" nor am I doing it just to be "dark and edgy." There's just too much shit that's happened in my life that if I'm constantly told that there's a "good" God, I'm just being fed lies.
