That looks deceiving. Most of the time you literally have no other choice but one, and the walkthrough shouldn't be "do only this, or else..." either. It has some enforced stuff as well, so... for example. The first playthrough you see there, literally nothing should matter but the very last part with the small ending branch. And it's really small. You die 10 lines later small if messed up. It's not the strength of the game.
You simply choose your destination every time period and later on you unlock new possibilities. There are some somewhat not too obvious key items to collect for certain good endings, but for the most part... you click on the face you wanna do the route of.

Beat Hyakki Ryouran the first time. Pretty much entirely linear with the exception of the end, which had two short fate/stay night esque choices they probably should've left away. I especially liked the first, where no matter what you choose, the protag does the exact same, but simply gets killed in one case. Pic related is also resulting into the same thing, but what would be the safer one is ultimately another "bad ending". It'd actually be no problem if the choices just didn't exist, as what happens in the correct choices makes sense.

Anyway. It's a fun setup. You get thrown into something, you get your goal and after that it's probably working towards that goal. The nice thing is how you really don't know much of everything after playthrough one. You experience a lot, but why that happens or character backgrounds and so on aren't really given. You get the surface. Everything seems messed up by the end, as expected, but there's a good amount to find out I feel. Probably fairly important to bring this to an actually "good" ending. In other words, it's not just enforced for the lulz.

While that's all nice, the writing is unfortunately fairly low tier. All the typical crappy narration issues you'll get here. Repeats of whatever a character said, explanations for everything every single time, so the reader definitely understands, and sometimes even circling narration where the protagonist is thinking about the same question 2 lines later again, in case the reader already forgot what's currently the topic/question.
Speaking of the protag, he feels fairly inconsistent with some actions. But that just goes back to the writing. Some parts are generally just weird as fuck. It's not too important, but you'll laugh a few times for absolutely absurd reactions or simple things happening. For that reason as well, sometimes the protag also feels like an utter dunce. He'll get eventually there, but I feel the writer(s) really felt like padding the narration a lot. So sometimes it starts REALLY far away from the goal, at a point, nobody normal would ever start.

Other than that, atmospheric music and a fairly high amount of ero-scenes, but they are comparatively short. Some are even more "plot" then anything else. So 12 1cg scenes (11 hcg total) within ~450kb isn't too much. Even moege.. tend to have more, or at least longer scenes so it feels more. Will probably change, unless the game is ~2.6mb. (the 12 scenes are 17%)
I'll continue this. The main girl really seems worth getting outa there. The writing is unfortunate, but I got used to it already and while it can be a bit annoying, I've seen even worse... not that that's an excuse.
