the sad part is that i don't think he's ever going to release his original vision for ciconia now, he can say all the shit he wants about writing it 'in the future' but if he's alright with writing an entirely new story in the koro ni series just to avoid writing about current day topics then there's no fucking way he's going to actually write it at the same level that he was originally intending
i expect the 'original' phase 2 to end up in the same position as land, where we get an occasional glimpse into what it was like from passing comments and future storylines, and every now and then a character'll reference the far better story that never got released/found/read/whatever in the obligatory fourth wall breaking segments just to really rub it in
