>I don't know how he expected most people to sympathize with Satoko after episodes 22 and 24
If you're talking about this, the director's comment was that people would feel differently of her after episode 22.
I think it was just in relation to how those 100 years were basically omitted with nothing but le ebin crazy psycho lesbian meme face. That train of thought makes sense from a director's POV because episode 22 could've easily been received badly due to its direction. (Was it rushed? Just poorly planned/executed? Was there a better reason why those 100 years were skipped?) Only episodes 23 and 24 depicted what kind of person Satoko was after becoming a witch; her remaining humanity and deep-seated trauma, the witch-human contrast, her inner rationales, more Eua lying and steering her along.

So what was the deal with this?
The director claimed in this interview that those with an unpleasant impression of Satoko might change their minds based off episodes 23 and 24. What did he mean?
Is this just more promo art or is there a reason JK Satoko would be depicted in distress while falling through a black void?

Newtype illustration.
As usual Satoko looks incredibly huggable.
