Yea I see that makes a lot of sense, personally most of the stuff I've read up to now has had long common routes so maybe it just felt fun and refreshing that way. Beyond that I also think there may not be one right answer as to weather or not a common route should be long or weather they have an advantage, it is probably more likely that both long and short options are suitable depending on what the makers want the vn to be.

I'm open to reading any vn except nukige, my favourites are usually moege because I really like just having a good time with the comedy/dokidoki stuff. I feel like these can benefit from shorter common routes as it allows you to interact more with the character you like the most as soon as possible, while naturally longer common routes can still be good in their own right. More non-moege stuff would probably benefit more from being linear/longer common routes as it would allow them to tell a more full on story and create a wider world all in a more coherent way.

As for moege sticking or not, for me I don't know if I exactly say they stick to me on a whole, rather, the specific routes/girls in them do like pic related. I also think it is always better to have characters that grow and have worries and issues because that makes it more interesting and entertaining right.
