I imagine youkai can age as much as they want. I've always subscribed to the idea that a youkai appears in whatever form fits their mentality at the time.

The term tsundere is rather overused, really it works best when describing a blatant stereotype like Shana/Louise/Taiga because the Japanese love sticking to those conventions, but to apply the term to every girl who is uncertain about her feelings gets messy.

But really it doesn't matter too much as each fan will attribute whatever they want to their favourite characters and ignore the stupid canon/fanon debate that rages on, especially when Touhou often contradicts itself based on ZUNs mood at the time.

Admit it, you like her because she's secretly lonely, but attempts to look strong on the outside. You like how she keeps to herself, yet craves human attention from people she respects. The right-white miko who seems capable of doing anything she puts her mind to and the charismatic black-white ordinary witch with dazzling danmaku and powerful magic. You like that she's weird, almost unique and not perfect.

She can't just get over it and be happy, it would cheapen what you like about her. Perhaps you hope she'll work out of it, but it can't be easy. Or perhaps you feel you could make her happy and you'd both feel a little better about yourselves.

We love her insecurity. Alice is lonely, she's sad and because of it she's perfect and pure. We love you Alice, we love you when you are alone.
