I hate Western fans for this very reason. People warp the characters from what they originally are or what they stand for into some reeking abomination that suits their fucking autistic minds and faggotry. I'll admit right now I got into the Touhou fanbase very late, say a year ago; however I respect the games a lot more than most doujinshi stuff (manga, remixes Yukkuris....). It pains me to see a lot of people who only recognize Touhou based on cute random flashes rather than the games that made the series awesome.
