Well, I don't think it's a direct line of communication, more like that Medi can interpret the signals given off by the plants in ways that make sense to her, since her poison, the very thing that moves her, comes from the flowers. I think Yuuka could definitely do something similar; replying to the flowers is however beyond their capabilities I think, unless they could show their intentions through indirect means.
