A long time ago I met someone on an IRC channel. He was close to my age (a bit younger) and had a lot of problems with depression, etc. We shared similar interests and had a lot of fun talking to each other after school. Every day I would wait for him to appear on IRC just to start chatting with him. But eventually one day I got him angry and he blocked me on literally everything.

A couple years later he contacted me again and I was very happy, and we started to talk again. But recently I don't think I really want to be friends with him anymore. His personality is now grating, he ignores stuff I say, we don't share interests anymore (he's become obsessed with MLP and other equally idiotic things), and I feel like I respond to him out of politeness and obligation and not because I want to.

Why do people change so much for the worse?

;_;
