There's also the issue of Hanyuu and I suspect that she was bound by some gamerules in some way or another, such as her ability to only be able to follow people who are in the near L5 stages, which explains why she always follows and appears next to people who are going insane or are already insane. But it's also possible that Hanyuu can simply go everywhere and anywhere, but then again, if Takano never spoke about her past connection, why would Hanyuu even bother with her? Or she simply couldn't speak at all due to the gamerules, that's also possible.

I always thought that it was simply because Rika's mind was at her limits.
That Hanyuu spent so much energy to be a part of the gameboard in the final game, got Akasaka's complete memory to return and getting all of Rika's memories from the last time that it was too much for Rika to be able to recover everything, so she didn't recall anything.

It's also hilarious how fast Rika pieces everything together the moment she has a target to investigate.
