I am largely indifferent to what people make of characters granted they don't do it with reckless confidence & disdain over the rest. These people tend to isolate themselves on their own over time, and i'm long the past the point of enjoying my anger actively looking for what I dislike.
I also more or less follow the idea of Touhou being a world where convenience rules over everything, as is reflected by ZUN's choices & different directions he's taken Touhou in throughout the years, that have once reflected stuff he simply thought would be cool, to exploring his own culture more throughly, to talking about current issues in a laid back manner.
If I fancy silly Shinki & crew hijinks trying to renew the idea of a tourist agency for Makai to Gensokyo, then it'll take up my mind for a bit. If the next day, I want to imagine an awesome Shinki fighting for Makai against Mima or Yuuka, then i'll think about that as well.
I would even extend that thought to less glamorous parts but I won't be as through because there's a time and place for that, which brings me to the point cited above about attitude.
I will leave it at that.
