I was talking about a combination of ratings and sales. By the time of LB, Key already had a very significant fanbase and thus even a title that wasn't as well-received as Kanon and Air would outsell those two. The poll result is surprising, though - Kanon doesn't really stand the test of time so it makes sense for it to be lower, but what happened that LB got a higher place than Air?

>The tons of other translators that gave up on it?
>I'm sure most of them finished a project or two also, before starting on air.
Nope. In fact, the majority of such shitty projects that never work out are done by people having no experience, no motivation, and a great desire for e-penis. It was started on TLWiki by a bunch of hopeful but inexperienced people who gave up quickly afterwards. After that, some machine translators tried to tackle it, but even they gave up (yes, they gave up, they didn't even have to be kicked off). Then Enter The Wired (group with no previous experience) took the project off-site and sat on it for a couple years, making minor progress through tiny amounts of translation of a bunch of random translators, plus some machine translation. Then a girl completely new to VNs called Hikari-chan picked up the project, absolutely insisting that UNLIKE ALL OTHERS SHE WOULD FINISH (after all, she's already translated Japanese songs!) and basically exploding whenever anybody insinuated it was possible she wouldn't. Naturally, the project was dead within three months, though it took a couple more months to get her to admit it's dead. Then another group that has actually released trial patches but no complete releases picked it up, but that didn't get anywhere either. Finally, last December, it was finally picked up by Edger, the first person with actual experience (translated Canvas2) in YEARS to pick up the project.

I know official localizations aren't perfect, but I would buy an ATLUS release if it ever happened. Considering you're talking about machine translation, though, I think you might mean ATLAS.

No idea, you might just need to install the thing. And I don't think I still have the install files...you can grab them off Audiopirate.info, though, that's where I got Etnosphere.
