Let us all come together to give praise to the mighty Ryūjin who created Gensokyo, the unbound and divine Dragon whom no boundary can restrict or impede. A force of nature that could end Gensokyo and our world if it so chooses, yet mercifully allows us to continue our comparatively pitiful existence graciously! He who the Sages are merely servants to, he whom is the highest of gods, he whom ALL worship.

Let us thank the great Dragon God for allowing Gensokyo to exist.

Gensokyo's creator god, or the closest approximation to it, is the Dragon God. The Dragon God created the five phases of nature, the Wu Xing. It created the loop of sky to rain to sea, bestowed the shape of the seven colors of the rainbow and the flow of the three lights of all things. With the creation of the loop, wood engendered fire, fire engendered earth, earth engendered metal, metal engendered water, and water engendered wood. Following forth, wood came to conquer earth, earth came to conquer water, water came to conquer fire, fire came to conquer metal, and metal came to conquer wood, thus creating complication and the ten powers of destruction. It is according to this that all things in nature live, as the Dragon God made it so.
