Yes, since you know JP you can just read the author's plot that explains it, though the pastebin in this thread has a summary of the various Q&A and explains how it also related to Minakami's route and the other routes. Generally speaking it's not the true route, despite how it is presented in game. All routes "exist" due to the parallel world structure of the game, though Minakami's basically fits the true route requirements (It also needs to exist for the final route to be a possibility).

I usually think this shit is stupid, but I didn't mind much, given the story reveals he always loved Minakami, so he didn't "turn" gay. It's pretty fitting that someone lazy and uncaring as him would try to avoid confronting his feelings and sexuality but would rather try to maintain the facade that allowed him to maintain a stable every day life.
