The assumption is that these memories supposedly affect people "positively". But what people fail to realize is that they don't always have to come up. It's true Shion has been consistently changed though. However I cannot discard Teppei being either abusive again or at least not that different. Depending on who you ask, EP23 was made to absolve the Teppei in Tataridamashi, or EP23 was made to show that Satoko can't easily fight her PTSD.
