The idea is sound: there's only one person doing sprites and they can do what Japanese artists love and just peace out whenever, and AI stuff keeps a consistent generic style; there's no need for anything complex either, it's just characters standing in a pose with adjusted expressions
Unfortunately it's easier to make a single bust shot than to make a fully clothed one, especially with more complex designs, and genitals still sometimes look eldritch
And from a certain point there's a cliff-sized jump in work needed to achieve desired quality, which is what 99% of AI users want to avoid
