You know I think the reason we don't see the parents take more of an active role in the story is because it would take you out of it in a way. I agree that it was fucking retarded that Keiichi didn't even talk to his parents about what was going on, And that they didn't tell their parents that Takano was sending a death squad to get them in Matsuri. Since Higurashi is meant for teenagers and young adults Ryukishi wrote it in a way that makes them feel like adults so they can self-insert and have their power fantasys. My personal headcanon as for why Keiichi never asked his parents for help in Tatargoroshi is that since we didn't really know them that well that maybe they were on bad terms. They moved all the way out to the boonies with their teenage son, Some conflict was bound to happen. Well that's not the case, But at the time of reading Tatargoroshi that was my headcanon and it helped me accept the retardation of not asking his parents for help.

Nope, My canon theory is that Sakiko is Keiichis daughter. The number of hints suggesting that Keiichi chose Satoko is overwhelming! Let's go over what is already known and canon, FACT: Keiichi has NEVER killed/purposely harmed Satoko with intent to serioisly damage. Compare that to the countless times Keiichi has murdered Mion, Rena, And Rika then it should be clear that even at L5 he would never harm Satoko. In my next post responding to the anon who asked about how I can care about the ship about the new kids I will explain the importance of Keiichi being the father of Sakiko and why the realtionship of Inori and Kaitarou is VITAL to the purpose of the new manga. This story will go down in history as one of the greatest love stories of all time, A boy who fell in love with a girl and gave up everything just to save her and everyone else...But he couldn't give a shit about everyone else. Will he follow his father footsteps and abandon love or will he right the wrongs and have true love flouris...But at a cost so great...

Just imagine how much greater Gou and Sotsu would've been if Satoko was looping out of a psychotic obsession with Keiichi as her replacement Nii-Nii, while Rika was (in line with her VN characterization) fighting through the loops in order to try and keep Satoko for herself.
Never forget that in the original story, Rika was shown to be far more attached to Satoko than Satoko was to her, as a product of her looping; whereas Satoko's obsessive tendencies were consistently towards older men who could serve that protector/brother role.
