I have been learning Japanese with the goal of getting a job as a translator for a fair bit now. However, I've recently taken some time to actually look into the translator sphere of things and I have come to an awful discovery. Translation is a dying career and will be wiped away soon enough with machine translations. Maybe not this year but within 10-15 years max. Needless to say this has shaken my resolve and plans for the future. I'm so disheartened and unmotivated.

I still do my daily immersion and grind through my studies but I just don't know what to do. There is now this constant reminder that it's probably pointless. I know all of the nice personal reasons to learn japanese like being able to consume unlocalized media but I have mouths to feed. Any advice would be appreciated.
