They care immensely, but only under two scenarios. Either the message must be well-composed and presentable, or it must be a flood of messages regardless of quality.
Companies operate on the idea of extrapolation. They assume that the majority of people will be passive audiences, no matter what kind of enjoyment they're gaining, so they won't be able to get feedback. If someone feels compelled to actually give feedback, then they pay attention to it, because they assume that the feedback is something that represents more people than just the person sending it. Companies are very image concerned, and if you can make a clear point about what to fix, the company will at least try to make good with it.
