I like being a partially independent attendant/underling/apprentice. Magically inclined monstergirls are fascinating to me. Wearing a big hat, carrying a staff, mixing potions, etc. is another one of those appealing aesthetics. (I'm also just fascinated by magic, magecraft, magitech, and technology in general)

Dark Mages are hit or miss due to the Ara Ara factor (I want to be a man, not a child). I like Baphomet.

I always thought barbarians in fantasy have a deep distrust of magic/wizards but sometimes will begrudingly accept their help if faced with a magical enemy, I don't think it's unique to Conan but it's a good trope.
