Contrary to what being based at 4chan may have one believe, and as much as they may try to make you believe otherwise I've found that /jp/, by and large, are not insanely strict judges of things, even when those things begin encroaching on what they consider precious.

If you make something that doesn't suck, the worst you'll be met with is silence. If, however, you are obsessed with the hackneyed and decide that random ships, power levels and OCs are great ideas and need to be in every piece, the reaction will be significantly more negative.

It is important to remember, however, that those who are inherently turned off to fanfiction are not your target audience, and not worth considering when you write, because there's nothing you're going to be able to that will change their minds. Focus instead on the people that can identify and will appreciate a quality product.
