Same as you, I'm not into painfully long action scenes; but do you think it's safe to go into 村正 without a crapton in the way of, well, "grounding"? I can read a lot of stuff with little difficulty and have a passing familiarity with the history of nippon, et cetera.

Figure it would still be enjoyable enough if one is the type to keep a dictionary and encyclopedia handy, or do you expect that that would likely completely shatter the tempo and thereby tarnish one's impressions? I prefer giving [allegedly] good stories the respect they're due.
