Obviously sometimes they'll just pretend nothing happened like Aka Asuka -> Shiose -> Hikaru Nagi but oftentimes they'll be marketed as a complete newcomer ("新人") such as in the case of Kana Yume -> Jun Mizukawa
Seldom do you see a name change being correctly attributed as a comeback; only when they had previously retired in an official capacity and usually only if they still have access to their original name as well
