Way back (I'm talking July last year) before Kancollev and all those voice videos, I just wanted to see and hear kanmusu's sprite and voices as quickly as possible, so I made multiple accounts to roll shipbuilding often.

I keep picking on Kaga, because the Battle of Midway is the one that I'm most familiar with, but due to her slower speed (28 kt vs the dragons' 34 kt), the formation of Nagumo kantai was compromised, leaving the badly coordinated CAP to try and cover the fleet stretched over a large area. Had the USN task force consisting of carriers and the slower "fast BBs" been in a similar situation to the kidou butai on day of June (lacking the early warning of advanced radar and superior intelligence), I don't believe their speed would have proved adequate to function as escorts for the carriers.

Of course, that's just a what if case, and the truth is the USN had those immense technological advantages.

Coming back to the main point, ignoring the American BB tangent that we're on, I don't think Nagato should be classified as a fast BB. She couldn't keep up with the carriers, nor did the Japanese classify her as such: not to mention that they didn't seem to have such classification to begin with.
