The idea of powerlevel as we know it was nonexistent until the arrival of teenage fans because of modern media (tv, internet). Usually, in ancient stories certain god defeated the other using tricks, alliances and so. Rarely the battle was about sheer power or technique.
Why?
Because it's boring/ lacking of imagination.

You may remember my case, you may not.
Some months ago, after a lot of practice, I beat Phantasm stage. Yay! Well, three days after that I got sick with common cold. I didn't pay attention to it. A month after that heroic moment, I tried beating her again. And, what do you know, I got sick again! By that point, I deduced that Yukari can actually manipulate the border of fantasy and reality and health and sickness at the same time, every time I whoop her ass, just to take revenge on me. So, now that I finally decided to face her again, I want you guys to pray for my well-being.

I'm a hardcore fan with Touhou, so many times I would even try to escape reality with lucid dreaming, I would be in Gensokyo where I would often train with Marisa in the forest of magic and help Reimu with the Hakurei Shrine Festival, but one day as I was talking to Reimu, we went to her shrine for a private talk. She immediately said, "You know you could live with us forever.." I gave her a confused look and she continued, "We understand that you live on earth and you REALLY wish to live here". I then said "How..How did you know?" She then giggled and said "Because we've been watching you, silly!"

This was a dream come true and I almost cried right there. She then said, "I talked with Yukari and she agreed that you would be PERFECT for Gensokyo, you just have to do...one thing". I then gave her some questions, "How long do I have before the deal expires?" She then said "Yukari said 3 months.." I added by saying "What's the most painless way?..." She giggled again, "Suicide will require pain buuut...if you want it quick...Get a gun and a nice shot to the head works.

I then agreed and she gave me a kiss on the forehead, "I know this will be tough but once it's over and done, you'll get to live here!" I then woke up and this was last week and i purchased a gun. I might actually kill myself because that dream just felt too real to be fake and my life isn't doing so grand.
