Not sure about sub tank as I cleared before that was a thing, i.e. hurled my CTF against a brick wall until I got through. You can always wait for friend fleets though, which should be here by the end of this week(?). It should definitely make chipping go faster, and make clearing easier. My clear was pretty lucky as I had 2 ships focus fire on the boss at night, when 5/6 of her main fleet was still alive at the end of the day battle.
