It would seem so on the surface but it actually wasn't. In fact, your post just reminded me of this article where she recalled her past experience taking dance lessons in Korea and whatnot and it's clear just by reading the quotes that these eating disorder started way before joining AKB.

I don't feel all that bad that she left, myself. After all she seems to have already found other avenues of expression that are much more suited to her abilities than just being in an idol group, what with fashion modeling, artistic photography, pencil drawing, etc... Not only that but she also had a couple museum exhibits of her works in the past, just to prove that girl's got talent and knows very well how to capitalize on it without relying on anyone's help. I swear, if she'll ever consider publishing an artbook or something I'd buy it right on the spot, because her style is simply fascinating.
In the end, even though her stay in AKB didn't amount to anything concrete, it still had the advantage of making me aware that such interesting personages exist.
