you're missing the point of what i was saying back there
the guy i was replying to at the time said that you're unable to 'say you like or dislike any Rokkenjima character becauase we don't know what they actually are like', being overly pessimistic about the nature of the story he saw in umineko, and my post was not a statement of "this 'consensus' is what the characters are truly like", but rather "if someone says they like or dislike a character, there's a definite 'consensus' of traits and actions to that character that we formulate as we read through the story, and that someone can like or dislike that 'consensus' and it doesn't suddenly become invalidated because of how the character may act in another story"
for example, if someone says they like kinzo, you know they're talking about the crazy bastard who jumps out of windows and screams about beatrice all day, and what the REAL kinzo was like doesn't invalidate that guy's opinion on the kinzo that he knows
taking ideas from ep8 myself, it's the characters you choose to believe in and think of that are the ones you hold in your heart, not the ones that could have been or may have been

there is one fatal flaw with that theory, and it's that for it to happen, yasu would've had to not actually want to die
ikuko has a mansion full of servants, a pre-established backstory which those servants can verify, a whole collection of books and written manuscripts she has no intention of publishing and a car, a great many things that would require a great deal of preparation
for yasu to be ikuko, she would've had to prepare for that exact situation, to not actually wish to die for her sins but instead to live on with battler specifically with the intent of abandoning or killing everyone else including the ones she also loved, and also to have somehow got out the water, got to her home and almost hit him with a car before the amnesic battler can even reach the highway
in short, it requires a chronic lack of love and one of the most negative interpretations of sayo to even work, and everyone who acts like this theory somehow has more love have no idea what they're talking about

do you mean 'supposed to be'? because the answer is
UNKNOWN
this is done on purpose, ryukishi refuses to answer any questions on it because it is forever intended to be a cat box, not something with a legitimate answer because both answers work
the ones who try to sell you a certain answer will almost certainly attempt to push the male option, and that is because of one of two reasons:
>they wish to troll
they know it makes people mad, they know it annoys those who actually understand the story and its heart and wish to anger them by pushing a false narrative that makes it seem like a political message more than a love story
>they wish to push a message
they want it to be a LGBT story because that's all they care about, they hold no love for the actual story or the characters but instead whether it appeals to their sensibilities, and so they pretend the other option isn't possible because that one is too straight for their tastes
this is why you must remember that anyone who tries to feed you a definitive answer is someone you should ignore, and not take their points seriously

it's possible they've already all made their peace with the matter
as i recall, there's no specified time gap between the end of episode 6 and when ange finds battler again at the end of episode 7 - it's very possible that everything was settled between the ushiromiyas off screen
also keep in mind that kinzo remains in the 'good grandfather' persona the entire way through episode 8, which either indicates a large enough difference in time that kinzo has completely mellowed out and everyone has accepted his flaws, or that his character has been changed by the gamemaster/author of the story in order to better fit the situation, the more likely truth as ange complained about it - in that case, having everyone shun kyrie and rudolf in the golden land would detract from battler's intentions for ange to move on and remember her family as good people and not as the sick, vile degenerates the public paints them as by her present time, even if they're false memories and not truly how everyone would react to the reality of the situation
it's not like anyone else is shunned for what they did either - kinzo is fine as mentioned before, beato seems to have forgiven natsuhi at this point despite what she did, and eva's abuse of ange isn't talked about at all
at the very least, battler and beato have known the truth for a while at this point, and so freaking out so long afterwards would be a little unusual - if he can love beato despite all the shit she got up to again and again, i'm sure he can find it in his heart to forgive his mother and father for murdering his family once

That anon was being silly. Other theories can work, they've just not been thought through fully yet. It's not just Shkanon or Rosa that work, it's just that those two theories are the only ones that have been expounded upon and don't have gaping holes in the explanation or the presentation like with Erikanon. That was what Ryukishi wanted once upon a time, for multiple interpretations of his story that led to different potential answers. Sure, he had an answer in his head, but most writers who think like this do. No one can truly write completely blindly. The manga was a showcase of his own solution, but because it's the writer's solution to his own mystery people take it far more seriously.

Complaining about the charm gets more people annoyed than maintaining the status quo, I'd imagine, and you seem to thrive in doing whatever it takes to get people irritated, to the point of posting unrelated characters just because it'll get someone's goat. Besides, doing something that would make only yourself mad is a pretty obvious exemption to the idea of doing something to get others mad, wouldn't you think?

The madness of boredom. Some would do anything to relieve themselves of that stagnation, even if it is to bash their heads against a brick wall in the hopes it will tumble. Is it any surprise, in a community filled with witches like ours?

The VN left things vague enough you could create new theories that still met the standards of following every red truth, and could result in a different way of seeing the ending. The manga did away with that by making the EP7 tea party the official truth by having Ange outright read it in Eva's diary, confirming several things that prevent the more ambitious theories from occurring, like making Kyrie and Rudolf the culprits, as well as outright showing the boat scene as a continuation of that section, making it rather clear it occurred unlike in the VN where it blurred the line between mystery and fantasy. It also added new red truths to make certain things in the earlier episodes harder to work around, and Confession of course gave solutions to most of the mysteries as well.
So I'd say that the manga took away that interesting vagueness you could work with to create a different way events occurred, and instead replaced it by filling the official tale of Sayo and Battler with a bit more love. If you're alright with that story, the one Ryukishi intended, then the manga fits just fine, but it didn't work for those who wanted their theory to also be a possible truth, which is why you often find certain people complain a fair bit about people seeing it as canon.
I personally quite liked theories being able to fit into the puzzle of Umineko, but I'm also not pretentious enough to think that Ryukishi should've changed his own interpretation of his own story so that those theories could work too. He himself stated that the manga was his own answer to Umineko, and I think that it's important that even the brainlets are allowed a chance to experience what Ryukishi truly intended for the story.

It's alright to consider it canon if you're alright with the story being as it is displayed to be in the VN, but it's a little too rigid if you like to do any sort of theorycrafting. It makes the EP7 tea party the canonical truth for instance, which means that Rudolf and Kyrie kill everyone, and Yasu and Battler escape by boat. It's stuff like that which spawned the 'non-canon' meme, since people generally don't like taking away all the ambiguity from the VN and making one solution canon since it takes something rather nice away from the story if there's no other way to interpret it.

Nothing wrong with taking a break for a bit from it. I've found that if I've come up with something good, a few days away from it can help me come up with fresh ideas. It's like looking at it with new eyes: you can't remember the exact specifics of how you were doing it before, so it's more like looking at it from the eyes of an observer. You tend to come up with new, better ideas to create more things with if you're not straining yourself to come up with new ones all the time in an attempt to have a continuous stream of content, and especially if you're looking at it and appreciating what made it good in the first place rather than what your original intentions with it were.
