Been in too long, lacks freshness. Also her otaku character doesn't cater to masses. What makes Mayu great also makes her difficult to work with as center.

And from all the weight on her shoulders, she has to get hospitalised every couple of months already. Are you sure it's a good idea to put more pressure on her?

Not that I like Paru very much either, just these two aren't better choices IMHO. It's hard to find someone as universally likeable and versatile (single-wise, e.g. Mayu is hard to take seriously in sad/serious songs) as Acchan.
