All centers usually get some heat from the rest of the group, but they should be able to get along with them if they're not total bitches or just too socially inept. Ai-chan managed to get along well with most people, I think.

Reina just tends to be very lonely and build walls around her. I've actually joked about her being borderline autistic, because of some of her old blog photos of other members (pic related).

Reina's clearly not the type to approach someone first, which is why looking at how Masaki behaves, her constant insistence might have actually penetrated Reina's defenses.
So it's possible this kid migh have changed her, let's not forget Reina and Gaki-san were in a "cold war" for about a year, and Reina managed to gather the courage to approach and talk it out with Gaki-san for the sake of their kohai.
