the people that think of us as "literalfags" are too stupid to understand nuance so they reduce all of our views to "wanting translations word for word" and then argue against that strawman
the truth is that nobody actually believes that that's how translations work
all i ask for is that translators respect the source material and attempt to retain what it is as much as possible, don't fuck around just because they feel like it, and write decently (grisaia and saya no uta are good exampled of how a VN can be translated into english)
sometimes when you translate something if you want to retain what it is you have to keep some of the japanese concepts untranslated and i fucking despise that there's so many people and especially translators that just refuse to get this
if something is distinctly japanese and no english equivalent exists then you shouldn't make things up it just makes the translation look unprofessional
