I'm halfway at watching IM@s and I noticed that maybe the concept the Japs have about "Idol" differs from ours.

What we call pop Idol in western culture usually is someone with lots of attitude. They are always sexy or "cool & edgy XD". They party hard, they can date whoever they want and also they have alot of money which they like to show off. It's a figure everybody can aspire to be. Also, usually they have a more than average talent.

The Jap version is more like role model. But not a realistic one. I think they see their Idols more like an angel than a human.
Their dancing and singing skills are not that good.
But they're cute as hell.
The average Eleven comes home after work and turn on their TV thinking "Time to cute girls doing cute things!". They just watch to forget their tough reality. Just like moefags do with K-on!.
It's not a figure they aspire to be.

That's the main difference I see.
What do you guys think?

>tl;dr; Western Idol is a figure that people aspire to be. Jap Idol are moe blobs.
