Only those who truly love this series can hate the author this much.
I would know, as I am in the same boat.

Without love, it cannot be seethed

It's when he's taking the bus back to Hinamizawa coming back from the funeral.
After the initial foreshadowing, he keeps hearing some girl apologizing.

That has to be Hanyuu, apologizing for Keichi leaving the village and worsening his syndrome or something, right?
I am still confused about the door scene though whether that was Rena, Hanyuu, or both apologizing.

I feel Higurashi's difficulties lie in creating a lot of noise to distract players from what they should actually be focusing on.
Like in Tatarigoroshi they spell out that Takano murders Jirou and is overall a bad person, but why pay attention to that when you have the crazy as fuck ending to worry about?
Hanyuu isn't something you can easily figure out and is something easily proven one you know about it, but honestly all that matters are the effects of her actions, which can be observed. The Oyashiro-sama mystery is like a wild goose chase for the player, trying to solve it was the trap itself.

Umineko on the other hand at least the first three chapters since that's all I've finished so far puts great priority in knowing the rules of its universe and what the victory and loss conditions are; it does better in guiding the player towards what they should be paying attention about for solving the mystery so you're not caught trying explain the void you're in talking with Beato and them and how the hell Rika became Bernkastel and whatever that is really.
They're mysteries to be sure, but there's no way to empirically solve them besides pure guessing at this point in time; something something future truths.
Feel free to reflect on these thoughts of an anon still in the question arcs of Umineko

At any rate I just got friends to start playing Higurashi so I'm hoping I can follow along and catch stuff I missed before.
That and having someone else to be able to discuss it with besides braving this spoilerific minefield
Speaking of now that I actually started talking about Umineko I'm legit closing the thread, I'm just so alone with When they Cry and have literally no one to discuss it with
