Sure, he probably gave the permission fairly easily in the end, even if it was different from Sotsu which allegedly follows Ryukishi's script.
But imagine it from Tomato's POV. What he had to go through to introduce the idea that he's going to do a different story, basically explain his opinion that your story is shit and you're fucking retarded.
