Thanks, I found that very encouraging!
What put me off initially was the quoted 10y time to become somewhat proficient, but after spending all night looking up kanji and grammar I realized with the quality of ressources and support, learning might be fun in itself anyway.

So from what I gathered I'm supposed to learn hiragana, basic grammar, 2K core, and fit katakana somewhere, which should take like 6 months I guess?
Then start reading actual kid stuff with furigana (yotsuba / nhk and the likes) to put it all into place and only then progressively introduce kanji from radicals?
